In accordance with The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and the Department of Transportation (DOT), a person is subject to the commercial driver’s license (CDL) requirements and employers have to comply to the alcohol and drug testing rules. Some of the rules include procedures for testing, frequency of tests, and substances tested for.

DOT Alcohol test results may be recorded on the DOT designated forms. It doesn't necessarily matter which type of testing technique is used nor with which equipment.
